S, M and L do not have the same dimensions across every model. Compare pieces using the measurements in centimetres and the diagram on each product page, rather than relying only on a size name or photograph.
How to read our tables and diagrams

| Letter | Measurement | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| A | Insertable length | From the blue line to the tip; excludes the base and decorations below the line. |
| B | Maximum insertable width | The widest point in the front view, only above the blue line. |
| C | Maximum insertable depth | The deepest point in the side view, only above the blue line. |
| D | Total height | The height of the complete piece, including its base. |
| E | Base: width × depth | The two dimensions of the standard base. |
Insertable length and total height
A and D answer different questions. A tall piece can have a large base and a shorter insertable length. The blue line shown for that model defines where A begins; do not include the base bulge or estimate the boundary from a photograph.
Width and depth: there is not always one diameter
Fantasy designs can have oval or irregular cross-sections. That is why we show B and C separately. Maximum width and maximum depth can occur at different heights. Circumference is the distance around a particular cross-section: multiplying a width by 3.14 gives its circumference only when that cross-section is circular.
How to compare a size before choosing
- Open the table for the size you are considering. The illustration identifies each measurement; the values are in the table.
- Compare A, B and C with the measurements of a piece you already know. A ruler measures lengths and widths; a flexible tape measures circumferences.
- Check E to see how much space the base takes up. Base width is different from insertable width.
Measurements are in centimetres, rounded up to one decimal place. For Hemis, A, B and C refer to each branch; D and E refer to the complete piece.
